DAY 1 PALAU/COSTA SMERALDA Meeting with our representative at chosen port/airport, Departure for Costa Smeralda, arrival at hotel, accommodation in reserved rooms, lunch. Afternoon: Baia Sardinia, Poltu Quatu, Liscia di Vacca and Porto Cervo, the most famous resort on the Costa Smeralda. Evening in hotel, dinner and overnight stay. DAY 2 PALAU/LA MADDALENA Breakfast in hotel. Departure for port and boarding ferry for Maddalena island. Visit to Caprera and famous Garibaldi Museum. Scenic tour of the island. Free time to visit the old town and the craftsmen’s shops Return to hotel, lunch. Afternoon visit to Porto Rotondo, a resort popular with the international jet-set. Dinner and overnight in hotel. DAY 3 CASTELSARDO/STINTINO/ALGHERO Breakfast in hotel. Departure for Castelsardo, passing the “Roccia del Elefante”. Arrival in Castelsardo and visit to the ancient fortress and the quaint old town. Lunch in a restaurant specializing in fish and seafood. Afternoon departure for Stintino to see and admire the “Pelosa” and the “Pelosetta”, the most beautiful beaches in northern Sardinia. Evening arrival in Alghero, accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight. Walk through Alghero by night. DAY 4 ALGHERO/GROTTE DI NETTUNO/BOSA Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to port. Boarding and departure to visit the Grotte di Nettuno and enjoy the magnificent view of the coast as far as Capo Caccia. Return to hotel for lunch. Afternoon departure for Bosa to visit the old town and optional excursion in rubber dinghy on the river Temo. Free time. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight. Walk through Alghero by night. DAY 5 THARROS/CAGLIARI Breakfast in hotel. Departure for famous nuraghic site at Sant’Antine. Proceeding on to Sinis peninsula for guided tour of the remains of Tharros, a city founded by Phoenician and Carthaginian navigators. Farmhouse restaurant lunch of Sardinian dishes. Afternoon departure for Sardara, meet guide, visit old town, the Romanesque Gothic church of San Gregorio and the wells linked to old legends. On to Santuri and the “Eleonora d’Arborea” castle, renovated in the 13 hundreds, home to the Duca d’Aosta Museo Risorgimentale, displaying mementos of the Wars of Independence, the colonial wars and World War II, swords and belongings of the Bonaparte family, Gabriele d’Annunzio’s letters, and a rich collection of 16th to 20th century ceroplastics. On to Cagliari to visit the Castello area, the Roman Amphitheater, mount Urpino, and the Poetto, the civic beach. Free time for shopping. Accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight stay. DAY 6 CAGLIARI/COSTA REI/VILLASIMUS Breakfast in hotel. Departure for Costa Rei and Villasimius, two resorts equally renouned as tourist havens thanks to their dazzling beaches and crystal water. Farmhouse lunch. Free time for shopping (in summer months a chance to swim) at Villasimius. Evening return on a route offering magnificent Views of this marvellous Mediterranean island. DAY 7 SANT’ANTIOCO/CARLOFORTE Breakfast in hotel. Departure for port and boarding ship for Carloforte. Visit to the picturesque town of Ligure an coral Fishers who moved here in the early decades of the 18th Century in the reign of Carlo Emanuele III, free time to sroll from the ancient wall to the romantic little port. Boarding for Portovesme and continuing to Sant’Antioco, visit to the church built over tombs of the Phoenecian-Punic period, connected by tunnels and used as catacomba. Farmhouse lunch. Afternoon visit to craftsmen’s workshops (with opportunity for shopping) Evening return to hotel, dinner and overnight. DAY 8 CAGLIARI Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to chosen port/airport and the end of our tour. |
